I am trying to follow as much coverage of the World track and field in Moncton. I would have expceted see more tv coverage of this large track and field event.
The network Bold broadcast the opening ceremonies live. very few people I spoke with even heard of this channel, they had no idea this event was on tv. This Channel 277 on Rogers, Cegeco 166, Bell 641, Shaw 96 and Videotron 106. Their coverage lasted a little over 2 hours and was very complete. They didn't seem to live anything out. They included coverage of the fiddlers and the very popular people on stilts. There was also an F16 Fighter that flew over head. There was a repat broadcast on late night on CBC. This was a condensed version and left out a lot of the exciting parts.
CBC will be doing a 1 hour up wrap each day of the event. I am yet to see the late night coverage of the track events but I think it should be longer. There could have been more live coverage. Possible they could have found another network to help with the broadcast coverage.
I could not fine any thing on my tv guide from USA network even though they have the highest number of athletes. They have 100 plus their coaches.
With what I have seen there will be less than 10 hours of coverage thoughout the entire sporting event. That is far less than most other major sporting events.
I also want to thank the Newspaper for Moncton Times and Transcript. They are doing a great job. They are showcasing Moncton and New Brunswick. The people, places and events surrounding the world junior track and field. They have some amazing pictures of the athletes and the fans that came out to see this event. You can see some pictures of the state of the art stadium. It can have room to seat 20,000 people. It will be a great place to develop Canadian athletes.
Being able to see the events live is great. That is not always possible when you have to work. I am that everyone who lives here or is visiting enjoys these games.

I would like to add that I found you can watch the events live at cbcsports.ca
